For the second year in a row, Streetside BBQ provided barbecue to the cyclist and volunteers of the American Diabetes Association, Tour de Cure in Ambler, Pennsylvania. The Tour de Cure is a series of fund-raising cycling events held in 40 states nationwide to benefit the American Diabetes Association.
The Tour is a ride, not a race, with routes designed for everyone from the occasional rider to the experienced cyclist. Whether participants ride 12 miles or 100 miles, they will travel a route supported from start to finish with rest stops, food to fuel the journey and fans to cheer them on.
The riders and the #volunteers participating in the event were in for a treat this year; as we brought our barbecue trailer on site to smoke the food on site! The bbq trailer was parked next to the finish line and the smell of meat, charcoal and flavored wood inticed cyclist to finish their 100 miler, 63 miler, 35 miler and 3 mile family fun race in record time. We provide #pulled pork, pork sausages, chicken wings, chicken thighs, #chicken breasts and a smoked vegetable medley.
All of the attendees were in for another treat as we debuted our homemade barbecue sauces. We provided two tomato based sauces; the first was a classic tomato based #barbeque sauce and the second barbeque sauce starts out sweet then a slight heat emerges at the end. We also provided 2 specialty sauces made with beer and the other made with coffee. We ended the sauce medley with a traditional vinegar based sauce. The reception of the sauces was positive and the since Philadelphia is celebrating #beer week the beer sauce was a huge hit.
Streetside BBQ looks forward to supporting the American Diabetes Association through the Tour De Cure. Diabetes is a disease that hits close to home for Streetside BBQ, with family members past and present diagnosed with Type I or Type II diabetes. Streetside BBQ hopes to continue to participate in this annual event.
