Each year brings new trends, techniques and tools of the trade in every industry and the BBQ business is no different. As BBQ becomes more popular among a variety of audiences and settings, there is always something new and at Streetside BBQ, we stay on the cutting edge. We wanted to take this opportunity to share some of these trends with you.

For the BBQ preparation, wood burning grills have become increasing popular in high end restaurants. Items that were once either baked or sautéed in the oven are now prepared using a wood burning grill. It adds a classy touch and a mouthwatering, even finish to the BBQ every time.

As we have shared previously, our owner is a Board member of the Sustainability Business Network and that is keeping line with the 2015 BBQ trend of going green. People want to eat BBQ prepared with meat from animals that are raised humanely, preferably local, without antibiotics and hormones. Our mantra at Streetside BBQ is be local, buy local.

While on the topic of BBQ trends, we would be remiss if we did not talk about the ever growing list of foods, drinks and desserts that can be smoked. Of course with the BBQ foods, we know of the brisket, pulled pork and ribs. But have you ever considered BBQ pizza, eggs or salads or even a smoked cocktail? As BBQ becomes more commonplace for events of all kinds and the fact that anything can be smoked is a testament to that theory.
I’m sure we all agree that no meal is complete without sides and typical BBQ sides such as baked beans and macaroni and cheese. Who would argue that pairing the right side with BBQ meat, especially when it is smoked to perfection, maximizes the overall BBQ experience? This has given side items which were once considered just that, more prominence and equal space on the plate. That has made BBQ smoke masters become more expansive and creative with the preparation and offering of side items.

It is 2015 and the BBQ world has joined the tech revolution. Technology is taking the BBQ world to the next level. There are a variety of gadgets available such as the thermocouple meat probes and remote thermometers to give us exact temperatures and digitally operated micro brewers to regulate temperature. Technological developments are huge in the BBQ industry as they enable smoke masters to increase efficiency and reduce operating costs by realizing savings on equipment and materials that have now been replaced by technology.

These are just a few of the BBQ trends in 2015 – there are many more that have not yet been discovered or released. BBQ, like many other experiences, just gets better with time.
